Precipitation Detector

The gamma dose rate in the environment depends on meteorological factors that are influenced in turn by precipitation, particularly in combination with temperature inversions. The precipitation detector RD203 is an extremely sensitive rain or snow sensor and thus provides important additional information for the appraisal and evaluation of the gamma dose rate readings. It was specifically designed as an extension to the gamma detectors IGS411 and IGS421 and may be integrated in the detectors' power supply. Its power is supplied by the operating voltage of the gamma detectors. The precipitation data are processed directly by the gamma detector and entered into the data log with the gamma dose rate readings. The detector features extremely low power consumption and requires absolutely no maintenance.
