Philippines!
Here, too, the monitoring network is spread across numerous beautiful islands, with all stations synchronizing their data with the head office of the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) in Manila. Given the enormous distances separating the ten MIRA stations in operation, some of which are difficult to access, reliability is crucial. Accordingly, the stations are designed to withstand the extreme weather conditions for which the Philippines is notorious. Fitted with solar panels, the stations use the RADMON service with integrated national roaming, thereby ensuring continuous data transmission even in the event a mobile provider breaks down.
The obvious advantage of an efficient monitoring network is that the stations rarely need in-situ maintenance work. Naturally, that means missing out in other ways: just like the other countries that we have already presented in the ASEAN region, the Philippines also offers a stunning mix of culture and nature that is well worth a visit. From the world-famous white sandy beaches of Boracay to historical sites like Intramuros in Manila, the Philippines is a country of contrasts and variety. And who could forget culinary highlights like adobo, sinigang and lechón?
Thanks to its new monitoring network, the Philippines is now better able to keep an eye on all of that. And, at the same time, protect both its citizens and its numerous tourists from radiation hazards. Congratulations to the PNRI on taking this important step! We wish them every success in the future.
